Business in Peru

Uncertainty Avoidance

How important/ common is it to use gestures to describe speech?

There seems to be a greater comfortableness with taking risk in the Peruvian society. Much of it stems from the "nothing to lose" mentality. Many of those who choose to become entrepreneurs pursue it in the hopes of achieving something, anything better than what they have currently.

Much of this may also be attributable to the recent tumultuous history of Peru. Fortunes can change over night and what you don't take the risk on today may be a lost opportunity the next day.

While the success rate of start ups is similar to that of the U.S., by sheer quantity, there are more people willing to take risks and, as a result, many more success and many more failures.
