Business in Peru

Like similar Hispanic cultures, family is one of the most important values in Peru. La familia extends beyond the immediate family members, forming an extremely tight-knit group. The father is generally the head of the family; the mother ususally is in charge of the house. The entire family has the responsability to aid other members (extended too) who are experiencing financial, health or other issues. Family values that are instilled on the children include honor, good manners and respect for authority.

Family gatherings happen very often. Peruvians celebrate birthdays, holidays, first communions, weddings and more as large groups.

Some of the most widely celebrated fiestas with family include:

Fiesta de la Cruz (across Peru- May 2/3): A religious celebration that includes folk muscis and dance, highlighting "scissor dancers" that once performed on the roof of a chuch.

El Señor de los Milagros (Lima- October 18): This procession lasts a full 24 hours and is the largest in South America. Tens of thousands of people dress in all purple to revere a miraculous painting of Jesus Christ, which was painted by an Angolan slave, and it survived the 1746 catostrophic earthquake.

Inti Raymi (Cusco- June 24): This is the festival of the sun celebrates the winter solstice and honors the Inca sun god with parades and music.
