The Short Story
Yiyun Li
Born in Beijing, China, in 1972, Yiyun Li came to the US in 1996 where she continued to study at the University of Iowa in creative nonfiction and nonfiction.
Her first short story collection, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won the 2005 Frank O'Connor International Short Story award and was adapted into a film, The Princess of Nebraska, in 2007.
Following her initial debut, she continued to publish both short stories and awards, among them another set of short stories, Gold boy, Emerald Girl, and a novel, The Vagrants.
